Dr David Furney, Beaches Dental Care

"Ian, from Dental Acquisitions, helped us to sell our practice. Some of the outstanding positives among many, which helped us to close the deal were helping to acquire the desired price for the clinic, delving into the finer details than what a dentist or clinic owner can comprehend, professionalism and time bound closure of deals . . .Any time I would highly recommend Ian."

Dr Cherian Thomas, Kooringal Dental

"Selling a long term practice is both a critical and important financial consideration, and yet one entwined in emotion. Many practitioners sadly leave this selling process consideration until too late in their careers One needs to be fully aware of the various options available in selling your practice; ranging from private sale to another outside practitioner or group, through to “management buyout” by an existing associate within the practice, or indeed one of many possible corporate entities or other groups. I would certainly recommend that the intending practitioner seek expert advice and use an experienced “practice broker” to assist in this decision making process and in finding your own “best fit.” Most importantly, the practice needs to be property prepared for sale and this may take some time of 6 months or more to prepare, and hence to maximise the result. This is certainly best directed by a specialist broker who is aware of how practices are best presented and especially with respect to its financial performance. A good practice broker is imperative in liaising with the selling practitioner’s legal advisers and accountants to again maximise the intended result. Finally, the specialist broker should be an aggressive advocate for your interests in promoting and managing the sale with the intended buyer. I believe Ian Donnelley (of “Dental Acquisitions”) provides an excellent service as a specialist practice broker and is both fair and trustworthy. I have full confidence in Ian’s performance."

Dr David Dunn, Macquarie Street Centre

Frequently Asked Questions

Who are the purchasers you will be working with?

Dental Acquisitions Australia interacts with several privately owned, sizeable corporate and individual dentists, each expanding using a unique plan. Also, we have experience networking with dentists who wish to open and procure their own dental practice.

Are there central benchmarks used to determine the value of my business?

In order to fully determine the value of the business, we take into account the performance of the business over the last 3 years to include the fiscal performance, growth potential, locale and number of associates/clinicians and chairs. We also consider the business plan into the future.

Once I send you my information, how long will it take until I receive settlement?

The normal process takes around 8-12 weeks. There are sometimes delays related to financial and legal advice so it’s imperative to perform the necessary due diligence and review of the terms within the Contracts of Sale to avoid potential delays and to encourage a timely settlement.

After an Agreement is reached, will my current staff continue to work for the new owner?

Typically, when a business sells to a corporate entity the staff will remain in place. However, when this type of sale is a dental practise, staff changes sometimes occur.

What are the benefits for using Dental Brokers Australia?

Dental Brokers Australia is proud to interact with several large corporations and private entities that we ensure are qualified to purchase your practise. Our protocol guarantees that we have several offers for your review within the first 2-3 weeks. Our vast expertise and knowledge of the negotiation protocol before, during and after the settlement plays a major role in an increased acquisition value.

Who will advertise my practise for sale?

Our site is not designed to handle the advertising of available dental practices for sale. Since our clientele prefers the discretion associated with anonymity and broker representation, the general online audience is not privy to the pending sale of their dental practise.

Will I have any involvement in the after settlement process?

Many corporate or medium sized private companies are happy to see the Principal stay on past the agreed upon term in the interest of continuity. However, regardless of who acquires the practise, a period of transition is always to be expected.

Much of our time, energy and knowledge is in making sure that you receive the best offers possible. As such, we manage the full life cycle of the sale for you. This means we will even educate the purchaser on the process as needed. It is our job to ensure that due diligence is carried out and to address any issues as and when they arise. As brokers, we are uniquely positioned to deal directly with the buyer, seller, accountants, lawyers and other professionals in order to manage any issues to ensure that everyone involved is informed and happy with the outcome of the sale.
